Through education, worship, and outreach, we strive to build a vibrant, productive, and harmonious community that is dedicated to serving G'd and bettering the lives of all those we touch.

Who We Are:

Masjid Taleem Muhammad is a dynamic and growing Islamic community located in the northwest area of Houston, Texas. Founded in 1988, the organization has a rich history rooted in a shared vision among its founding members to establish a mosque and Islamic center in their community. The inspiration to establish this mosque was further strengthened by the words of Imam W. D. Muhammed, a renowned Muslim American spokesman, who encouraged all Muslims to build mosques and Islamic centers across the United States.

Since its establishment, Masjid Taleem Muhammad has grown into a thriving community, offering a range of services, programs, and activities to its members. The mosque has become a place of worship, education, and social interaction for the local Muslim community, and has become a source of pride for its members.

One of the key accomplishments of Masjid Taleem Muhammad is its commitment to promoting a standard of excellence based on sacred principles and encouraging productive and progressive behavior among its members. The mosque is proud to have a large number of ex-offenders, who have turned their lives around and become self-employed, and it aims to prove that people of faith can also be productive and progressive members of society.

The community has also received recognition for its contributions to the local area and beyond. For example, it was featured on a cable television program titled "Al-Islam the Fastest Growing Religion in America," which was produced by the Christian Science Monitor. This recognition reflects the positive impact that Masjid Taleem Muhammad has had on the lives of its members and the broader community, and is a testament to its rich history and background.

Imam Basil Abdullah's Visit to Astrodome Post-Katrina: A Story of Hope and Unity

Video Inside the Astrodome Post Hurricane Katrina

In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, one of the most devastating natural disasters in American history, thousands of people were left homeless and displaced. Many found temporary shelter in the Astrodome in Houston, Texas, which had been converted into a makeshift evacuation center. Among those who came to offer their support and assistance was Imam Basil Abdullah, the founder of Masjid Taleem Muhammad.

Imam Abdullah visited the Astrodome to help those affected by the hurricane and to offer his services as a spiritual leader to anyone who needed it. He spent several days there, donating his time and energy to help in any way he could. His efforts were captured on video, which is now available in the media section of the MTM website.

In the video, Imam Abdullah can be seen meeting with individuals and families, listening to their stories, and providing comfort and support. He also worked alongside other volunteers, helping with food distribution, medical assistance, and other essential services. Throughout his time at the Astrodome, Imam Abdullah maintained a sense of compassion and empathy, and he did his best to offer hope and guidance to those who were struggling.

The video of Imam Abdullah's visit to the Astrodome is a powerful testament to the importance of community and the strength that comes from working together to help those in need. It serves as a reminder of the role that spiritual leaders can play in times of crisis, providing comfort and guidance to those who are struggling to cope with the aftermath of a disaster.

At MTM, we are proud of Imam Abdullah's commitment to serving others and his dedication to helping those in need. His visit to the Astrodome is just one example of his tireless efforts to make a positive difference in the world. We encourage you to watch the video and to join us in supporting our mission of promoting faith, knowledge, and community in the northwest area of Houston. Together, we can make a real difference in the lives of those we serve.
