1976 - Imam Basil Abdullah was sentenced to 99 years in prison for a crime involving the purchase of drugs that resulted in a death.


1983 - Imam Basil Abdullah and his brothers were released from prison and began brainstorming ideas for their future. During these discussions, the concept of establishing a mosque was introduced and became a central focus of their plans.


1988 - Brother Charles Rashid had a vision to create the first Taleem Masjid Muhammad, a place where members of the Muslim community could gather for prayer and worship. The first Jumah was conducted in Carver Park in Acres Home.


1990 - The First Taleem Masjid Muhammad held their first banquet, attended by prominent guests including Imam Hatim Hamidullah T. Lott, an educator, Malson, a businessman, and Sylvester Turner, a politician.


1993 - Several members of the First Taleem Masjid Muhammad community fulfilled their religious obligation of Hajj, including Bro. Labib Nashid, Elijah Saleem, Hasan Rasheed, Abdullah Rasheed, and Basil Abdullah. These individuals were recognized as "Hajj Heroes" for their commitment to their faith and their efforts to spread its teachings to others.


1994 - The First Taleem Masjid Muhammad community purchased land on Tidwell Street in the Acreage Home area and then resold it for a profit. With the proceeds, they purchased the land for their current mosque and began construction of the Masjid Taleem Muhammad.


1998 - The Masjid Taleem Muhammad changed its name to Masjid Taleem Muhammad (MTM).


2008 - Phase 1 of the construction project was executed, and the erection of the Masjid Taleem Muhammad was completed. Later that year, the mosque was set to host a building dedication ceremony featuring a lecture by Imam W.D. Muhammed. The building dedication ceremony and lecture were significant events for the community, as they marked the realization of their long-held aspirations.


2019 - The First Taleem Masjid Muhammad community executed phase 2 of their construction project, which involved the erection of the Qasim Ahmed Multi-Purpose Building, adding much-needed space for community events, educational programs, and other activities.


2021 - The Harris County Sheriff's Office hosted a new deputy educational tour at the Qasim Ahmed Multi-Purpose Center in Houston, Texas. Imam Basil Abdullah attended the Monday Afternoon BBQ event hosted by the 5th Ward Islamic Center for Human Development (FWICHD).


2022 - The hand-painted mural of Emancipation in the Historical Heights neighborhood was unveiled, featuring portraits of iconic historical figures such as Wallace Fard Muhammad, Sojourner Truth, Joseph Cinqué, Frederick Douglass, and many others.
